Pattern 83 Inspired Chest Rig

Wilde Custom Gear has designed a modern Chest Rig based of the South African Defense Force Pattern 83 Chest Rig.

The South African Defense Force (SADF) fought three major counter insurgency wars in Sub Sharan Africa: The Congo Crisis (‘60-65), the Rhodesian Bush War (‘64-79), and the Border War (‘66-90).

The SADF utilized load bearing systems adapted from the British Pattern 58 web gear similar to the U.S. ALICE system.

Pattern 83 was developed to fill the need for a more modern, lightweight and simple load bearing system to keep up with the operational tempo and intensity.

The Pattern 83 Chest Rig allowed soldiers to carry enough ammunition and equipment to fight close contact battles without excess bulk or weight.

We have taken the basic design and mission of the Pattern 83 Chest Rig and have updated it with with a more modern design and increased functionality.

Features:

• 3 x 3 5.56 Magazine Pouches (9 Magazines) secured by velcro flap in the center.
  
• 4 columns laser cut MOLLE Squadron Laminate Fabric on each side of the magazine pouch stack provides plenty of real estate for attaching additional MOLLE items, such as radios and IFAK's.
• The Pattern 83 Inspired Chest Rig uses single piece Squadron Laminate fabric shoulder straps.  These are tough, lightweight, flexible and can integrate with other Wilde Custom Gear Chest Rigs and Placards. The shoulder straps end in side release buckles for quick donning and doffing.
• The body side features a velcro flap admin pouch and rear-facing hook velcro field with loop velcro cover for attachment of lower abdominal type pouches, such as the Wilde Custom Gear Hanger Downer found here:

Lightweight and functional.  Just like the original Pattern 83 Chest Rig.

Squadron is the ultimate fabric for high stress areas in tactical gear.  Squadron fabric is comprised of two layers of Cordura nylon fabric (500D Cordura laminated to 1000D Cordura) which is water repellent and NIR compliant.  Squadron fabric is thick and extremely rugged and is now used in high stress areas of laser cut MOLLE attachment points.

Squadron fabric is available in Black, Coyote Brown, Ranger Green, Gray, M81 Woodland, Multicam and Multicam Black.

Color/Camo Pattern matching Squadron will be used on all front-facing MOLLE attachment points, with the below exceptions.  Rear-facing laser cut MOLLE attachment points will use Squadron in a solid companion color.

Squadron fabric is not available in OD Green.  For OD Green products, Wilde Custom Gear has created a laminate of 1000D Cordura OD Green laminated to 1000D Black.  Our in-house laminate will be used for front-facing laser cut MOLLE attachment points. Rear-facing laser cut MOLLE attachment points will use Squadron in Black color.
